Tombstone Tuesday
Family health issues have kept me away of late.I hope to begin posting again regularly after new-years.Dead man Talking had asked for a close-up of the sheriffs headstone at San Juan.I apologize for the quality of the photo and wish I had taken a picture of the back as well as it had more info. on it.Next time. By the way, your photo below that of the San Juan Bautista Cemetery is glorious.
Many years ago when I was a young man and came to California from Wisconsin, I had built up in my mind a picture of this verdant garden state, a Wizard of Oz level of green; so you can imagine my disappointment when I arrived to see the hills all brown like that. Since then, of course, even though I know the grass is not "native," it's the iconic vision of the state I came to know and love.
And if it were me, I'd go up and shoot pictures of every single one of those wooden crosses and markers. They won't last forever and they're such elemental folk art.
